Plenty of miserable couples have stayed together for children, religion or other practical reasons.

But for many couples, it’s just not enough to stay together. They want a relationship that is meaningful and satisfying. In short, they want a sustainable marriage.

“The things that make a marriage last have more to do with communication skills, mental health, social support, stress — those are the things that allow it to last or not,” says Arthur Aron, a psychology professor who directs the Interpersonal Relationships Laboratory at the State University of New York at Stony Brook. “But those things don’t necessarily make it meaningful or enjoyable or sustaining to the individual.”

The notion that the best marriages are those that bring satisfaction to the individual may seem counterintuitive. After all, isn’t marriage supposed to be about putting the relationship first?

Not anymore. For centuries, marriage was viewed as an economic and social institution, and the emotional and intellectual needs of the spouses were secondary to the survival of the marriage itself. But in modern relationships, people are looking for a partnership, and they want partners who make their lives more interesting.

Caryl Rusbult, a researcher at Vrije University in Amsterdam who died last January, called it the “Michelangelo effect,” referring to the manner in which close partners “sculpt” each other in ways that help each of them attain valued goals.

Dr. Aron and Gary W. Lewandowski Jr., a professor at Monmouth University in New Jersey, have studied how individuals use a relationship to accumulate knowledge and experiences, a process called “self-expansion.” Research shows that the more self-expansion people experience from their partner, the more committed and satisfied they are in the relationship.

To measure this, Dr. Lewandowski developed a series of questions for couples: How much has being with your partner resulted in your learning new things? How much has knowing your partner made you a better person? (Take the full quiz measuring self-expansion.)

While the notion of self-expansion may sound inherently self-serving, it can lead to stronger, more sustainable relationships, Dr. Lewandowski says.

“If you’re seeking self-growth and obtain it from your partner, then that puts your partner in a pretty important position,” he explains. “And being able to help your partner’s self-expansion would be pretty pleasing to yourself.”

The concept explains why people are delighted when dates treat them to new experiences, like a weekend away. But self-expansion isn’t just about exotic experiences. Individuals experience personal growth through their partners in big and small ways. It happens when they introduce new friends, or casually talk about a new restaurant or a fascinating story in the news.

The effect of self-expansion is particularly pronounced when people first fall in love. In research at the University of California at Santa Cruz, 325 undergraduate students were given questionnaires five times over 10 weeks. They were asked, “Who are you today?” and given three minutes to describe themselves. They were also asked about recent experiences, including whether they had fallen in love.

After students reported falling in love, they used more varied words in their self-descriptions. The new relationships had literally broadened the way they looked at themselves.

“You go from being a stranger to including this person in the self, so you suddenly have all of these social roles and identities you didn’t have before,” explains Dr. Aron, who co-authored the research. “When people fall in love that happens rapidly, and it’s very exhilarating.”

Over time, the personal gains from lasting relationships are often subtle. Having a partner who is funny or creative adds something new to someone who isn’t. A partner who is an active community volunteer creates new social opportunities for a spouse who spends long hours at work.

Additional research suggests that spouses eventually adopt the traits of the other — and become slower to distinguish differences between them, or slower to remember which skills belong to which spouse.

In experiments by Dr. Aron, participants rated themselves and their partners on a variety of traits, like “ambitious” or “artistic.” A week later, the subjects returned to the lab and were shown the list of traits and asked to indicate which ones described them.

People responded the quickest to traits that were true of both them and their partner. When the trait described only one person, the answer came more slowly. The delay was measured in milliseconds, but nonetheless suggested that when individuals were particularly close to someone, their brains were slower to distinguish between their traits and those of their spouses.

“It’s easy to answer those questions if you’re both the same,” Dr. Lewandowski explains. “But if it’s just true of you and not of me, then I have to sort it out. It happens very quickly, but I have to ask myself, ‘Is that me or is that you?’ ”

It’s not that these couples lost themselves in the marriage; instead, they grew in it. Activities, traits and behaviors that had not been part of their identity before the relationship were now an essential part of how they experienced life.

All of this can be highly predictive for a couple’s long-term happiness. One scale designed by Dr. Aron and colleagues depicts seven pairs of circles. The first set is side by side. With each new set, the circles begin to overlap until they are nearly on top of one another. Couples choose the set of circles that best represents their relationship. In a 2009 report in the journal Psychological Science, people bored in their marriages were more likely to choose the more separate circles. Partners involved in novel and interesting experiences together were more likely to pick one of the overlapping circles and less likely to report boredom. “People have a fundamental motivation to improve the self and add to who they are as a person,” Dr. Lewandowski says. “If your partner is helping you become a better person, you become happier and more satisfied in the relationship.”

New Vizconde massacre witnesses surface

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; She has informed Department of Justice (DOJ) Secretary Leila de Lima through texts and phone calls that the new witnesses are requesting to be entered into the government’s Witness Protection Program. National Bureau of Investigation and Philippine National Police teams formed to look into the 3 sets of suspects in the killings will submit their first report early next month. The sets of suspects are the Barroso “Akyat Bahay” Gang, a group of construction workers, and the Webb group. When the reports are in, de Lima will convene another meeting with the inter-agency task force formed to reinvestigate the crime. The NBI and PNP teams have been told to locate the other suspects and get their statements again. The Supreme Court en banc last December 14 acquitted Webb and 6 others who were imprisoned for more than 15 years for the massacre. De Lima, meanwhile, said she has not received any complaint yet on the issue of Acosta being a relative of the victims. The DOJ chief said she will rule on the issue if a complaint is filed. In a separate development, Melchor Gongora Chavez, who claims to be the national president of the Association of Commentators of the Philippines, went to the DOJ bringing with him a sworn statement claiming that Webb's passport was fake. Chavez alleged that he knows of a certain "Edmond A" was allegedly asked to produce a fake passport for Webb. The man was reportedly told that the passport would be presented in court in defense of Webb. Chavez is not among the witnesses that Acosta intends to present to the DOJ. When questioned by reporters, Chavez could not provide details like crucial dates of the conversations that he allegedly had with "Edmond A.” Chavez also claimed that the video clip that showed Webb frolicking in snow in the United States is fake. “Sa likuran lamang ng Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) ito ginanap sa pamamagitan ng paglalatag ng yelo at pagpapalipad ng puting bulaklak at saka ito kinuhanan ng video camera upang palabasin na nasa Amerika ito kinuhanan," he said in a statement said. During the course of the Vizconde massacre trial, Webb's passport had been certified as valid and authentic by Department of Foreign Affairs. No questions were raised on the authenticity of his passport.

Kris Aquino, James Yap now on good terms?

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; I'm not going to say we are close friends now. I think that's a process. Matagal pa 'yon. Pero hindi naman kami magkagalit," she said.
Aquino, the youngest sister of President Aquino, made this clarification after greeting the PBA (Philippine Basketball Association) player during Tuesday’s episode of game-variety show "Pilipinas, Win na Win!"
During the show, Aquino uttered: "Get well soon sa tatay ni Baby James si James Yap. In-operahan siya sa ilong kasi nandoon ngayon si Bimby (Baby James) kung saan nandoon ang ospital. Dinalaw niya ang papa niya. Sabi niya, 'Mama you greet my Papa.’ So, get well soon."
Aquino maintained that she did it for the sake of their 3-year-old son. "Para matuwa si Bimby nag-greet ako. Nag-text ang yaya ni Bimby, si Gerbel. Sinabi niya, 'Thank you daw po sabi ng papa ni Bimby."
Aquino also said there's no truth to rumors that Yap still has personal stuff at the house he previously shared with the TV host-actress.
Rumor has it that Yap was having a hard time getting them, forcing him to shop for his personal things while on vacation in the United States.
"Ano naman ang gamit niyang nasa bahay namin? Lahat ng things niya nasa kanya. ‘Yong ibang mga gamit naka-box. Anytime puwede niyang kunin and pinabalik naman ng judge. Hindi ba nasa bahay namin lahat? Unfair to accuse me of getting his things," she retorted.
'Bimby is sick again'
In a message posted in her Twitter account, Aquino, meantime, bared that her youngest son is suffering from fever again.
"Bimby has a 39 Fever. I'm so worried. Will confine him. Last week lang he was sick, now sick again," tweeted Aquino.
Just last week, the 3-year-old son of Aquino and Yap was brought to St. Luke’s Hospital in Global City. According to the actress-television host, the toddler's platelet count went down.
On September 15, Aquino said her son was cleared of dengue, typhoid and pneumonia.
"Slept w/ Bimb in the hospital. All relationships are not meant to happen and does not always last. The saying is that all good things come to an end. The adage goes just kiss and say goodbye is most appropriate.

People are complicated and when you find one who you think is the "one" more often than not you will do everything you can to try to hold onto him. You must receive a reciprocation or a response from the other person to call it a real relationship. Sometimes you do receive an agreement that each one of you have found the right "one." Then for no apparent reason than two people growing apart, the relationship disapates. He stops calling to talk with you or to be with you. He has reasons to be other places than with you. The bottom line is that he just fell out of love with you. More often than not, he has found someone else to fill the void that somehow you thought you had filled. How to handle someone you love who do not love you? You just kiss and say goodbye.

While all of his emotions are changing for you and heading to someone else, you do not have a clue and refuse to accept the fact that the relationship is over. You lie to yourself and start to accept the lame answers that leave you alone again without the one who you are sure is the "one." Then you begin to think and to rationalize that if he is the one for you, why is his time being spent away from you in the company of another. His excuses wake you up to the fact that you are in love with someone who does not love you. Your first reaction is a sense of denial as you view the slides on your computer of the two of your smiling and having fun together. You know that the end of the relationship is upon you because once again, you are alone without him and you wonder what went wrong.

You first recourse is to try to fix the broken relationship and see what you can do to bring the two of you back together. You try to be understanding and to argue less because of being stood up again with another excuse. You want to know why does he just tell you that he does not love you anymore. You want to know what is it about you that did not keep the relationship together. Then you realize that some couples just grow apart or loses the magic that bought the two of them together. You vow to delete his contact information on your cell phone and to delete all of his emails and hopefully the deletions will also delete your love for you.

Love of another person is not easily deleted when you thought you had it going on and then he flipped the page and left you questioning his moves. Although he was not able to man up and tell you that his love for you is gone, you step in and complete the question for yourself. You are woman enough and smart enough to stop wasting your time and decide to have a talk with the person that you now can not understand. He does not love you and all of the evidence is there. He knows that if he leaves, he takes a great part of your life with him. You think of the sacrifices you made to be with him and how you gave your all to a relationship that you thought would last.

You decide the best way to handle the I love you but you do not love me situation is to just kiss and silently say goodbye. You find other interests. You do not rush out to meet someone else because love from you was forever. You do not know where to go from here. You throw yourself into your work and take up knitting of all things. Eventually, you accept the fact that it is fruitless to continue to carry love lost with you everywhere you go. Your surmise the nonsense of having thoughts of him with everything that you do. You decide to just say goodbye to a relationship that was so real to you but was something less to him. You decide that sometimes broken things needs to be thrown away and forgotten. You handle someone you love who do not love you by adding that relationship to the toss it pile and concentrate on what you have decided to keep.

You made the decision to keep your self worth, something that though shared can not be taken from you. You make the effort to move on and to find your good that has always been available to you. You finally understand that love lost from another does not mean to lose love for yourself. You handle someone you love who do not love by etching a new path to getting to know yourself better. You reach within yourself and find the strength that is there to move on. You build on the joy of knowing that at one time you loved and lost but you are grateful for having loved another so deeply. You just kiss and say goodbye,

Decoding Loneliness

Loneliness in itself is not a bad thing. It becomes a problem when you start to depend on things outside yourself to cure it. Chronic loneliness can be a symptom to a much bigger problem that needs to be healed BEFORE you go out looking for an external cure.

Curing your loneliness with love for example and not realizing the core of the problem (why you feel lonely ultimately not superficially) is akin to curing sleeping disorders with Excedrin PM Pills where by the problem is drinking 18 cups of coffee one right after the other all the way up until your bed time and expecting to sleep.

The pills will knock you out but the acetaminophen (a trademark used for the drug Tylenol), will weaken your stomach lining, damage your liver and long term problems will result that you can not easily if at all remove. Do I really have to give the example of the relationship resulting in seeking love out of loneliness? Good, moving on.

If you feel lonely and desperate it can mean that you don't have enough respect for yourself, who you are, and what your worth. What your contribution to the world is worth. If you can't stand your own company and demand to have others fill the needs you yourself should be content in fulfilling, then their may be a problem in your self esteem.

This doesnt mean your not a great person with alot of amazing qualities that others see right away, it just means that you aren't content being alone and this could he a bigger problem thatn it seems. This is ONLY ONE idea of what it could be. The truth is only can figure it out but below I will show you a trick to extracting it.. it could be as simple as you need a creative outlet and you normally get that when your in a relationship.

Mariah Carey 18 years

      from the latest album

The best-selling female performer of the 1990s, Mariah Carey rose to super stardom on the strength of her stunning five-octave voice; an elastic talent who moved easily from glossy ballads to hip-hop-inspired dance-pop, she earned frequent comparison to rivals Whitney Houston and Celine Dion, but did them both one better by composing all of her own material. Born in Long Island, NY, on March 27, 1970, Carey moved to New York City at the age of 17 -- just one day after graduating high school -- to pursue a music career; there she befriended keyboardist Ben Margulies, with whom she began writing songs. Her big break came as a backing vocalist on a studio session with dance-pop singer Brenda K. Starr, who handed Carey's demo tape to Columbia Records head Tommy Mottola at a party. According to legend, Mottola listened to the tape in his limo while driving home that same evening, and was so immediately struck by Carey's talent that he doubled back to the party to track her down.

After signing to Columbia, Carey entered the studio to begin work on her 1990 self-titled debut LP; the heavily promoted album was a chart-topping smash, launching no less than four number one singles: "Vision of Love," "Love Takes Time," "Someday," and "I Don't Wanna Cry." Her overnight success earned Grammy awards as Best New Artist and Best Female Vocalist, and expectations were high for Carey's follow-up, 1991's Emotions. The album did not disappoint, as the title track reached number one -- a record fifth consecutive chart-topper -- while both "Can't Let Go" and "Make It Happen" landed in the Top Five. Carey's next release was 1992's MTV Unplugged EP, which generated a number-one cover of the Jackson 5's "I'll Be There"; featured on the track was backup singer Trey Lorenz, whose appearance immediately helped him land a recording contract of his own.

In June 1993, Carey wed Mottola -- some two decades her senior -- in a headline-grabbing ceremony; months later she released her third full-length effort, Music Box, her best-selling record to date. Two more singles, "Dreamlover" and "Hero," reached the top spot on the charts. Carey's first tour followed and was widely panned by critics; undaunted, she resurfaced in 1994 with a holiday release titled Merry Christmas, scoring a seasonal smash with "All I Want for Christmas Is You." 1995's Daydream reflected a new artistic maturity; the first single, "Fantasy," debuted at number one, making Carey the first female artist and just the second performer ever to accomplish the feat. The follow-up, "One Sweet Day" -- a collaboration with Boyz II Men -- repeated the trick, and remained lodged at the top of the charts for a record 16 weeks.

After separating from Mottola, Carey returned in 1997 with Butterfly, another staggering success and her most hip-hop-flavored recording to date. #1's -- a collection featuring her 13 previous chart-topping singles as well as "The Prince of Egypt (When You Believe)," a duet with Whitney Houston effectively pairing the two most successful female recording artists in pop history -- followed late the next year. With "Heartbreaker," the first single from her 1999 album Rainbow, Carey became the first artist to top the charts in each year of the 1990s; the record also pushed her ahead of the Beatles as the artist with the most cumulative weeks spent atop the Hot 100 singles chart.

However, the 2000s weren't as kind to Carey. After signing an 80 million dollar deal with Virgin -- the biggest record contract ever -- in 2001 she experienced a very public personal and professional meltdown that included rambling, suicidal messages on her website; an appearance on TRL where, clad only in a T-shirt, she handed out Popsicles to the audience; and last but not least, the stupendously awful movie Glitter and its attendant soundtrack (which was also her Virgin Records debut). Both the film and the album did poorly critically as well as commercially, with Glitter making just under 4 million dollars in its total U.S. gross and the soundtrack struggling to make gold sales. Following these failures, Virgin and Carey parted ways early in 2002, with the label paying her 28 million dollars. That spring, she found a new home with Island/Def Jam, where she set up her own label, MonarC Music. In December, she released her ninth album, Charmbracelet. After 3 years mariah gone in music industry march 22 2005 she released the album emancipation of Mimi. The album means that mariah is back. After 3 years he released again the repackage of album titled E=MC2.This album is more hip-hop and rnb where here song put her back in number one. Now Carey still rocks in the music industry in this year she released the newest album in tittled Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel with the hit single obossed and the rival song I wanna know what love is. During the panel interview in the U.S., one judge asked her, "You have a Ph.D. in Biology; why do you teach in high school?" She answered, "And who will teach these kids?" Another judge asked how much she was paid for all her pains. They were shocked when they were told she is getting a net pay of not more than $300 a month.

The Massachusetts Institute of Technology Lincoln Laboratory in Boston named a minor planet in her honor. Indeed, the human spirit has no limits. If you dream big, and you have the determination and the will to pursue your dream, it will become a reality. I dreamt of making stars; I was given a planet.

A few months ago, I was featured in the local, national and international newspapers. I caused a stir to be the first Asian teacher to win the "Intel Excellence in Teaching Award" in an international competition held in the U.S. Since its inception in 1997, no Asian teacher has received this award. But I think what created waves was, I am a Filipino, and I defeated 4,000 other teachers from around the world, including the American finalists in their hometown.

Because of this, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Lincoln Laboratory in Boston named a Minor Planet in my honor. There is now a Planet Biyo rotating around the sun which is located between Mars and Jupiter.

What made me win in this international competition? What made me stand out from among the best teachers in the world? My road to attaining this international recognition is a very long 23 years of improving and harnessing my craft as a teacher. I consistently study and learn new skills to improve my method of teaching. I want my methods to be interesting, relevant, and fun for students. For just like any product, the measure of teaching success is clientele satisfaction.

I finished a B.S. Biology degree from U.P. in the Visayas hoping to be a medical doctor. For lack of financial resources however, I took the first job opportunity available- teaching. Never did I regret this twist of fate. The day I entered the classroom, I knew I would be an excellent teacher.

My first eight years of teaching were spent in a rural school. For lack of teachers in proportion to the number of students, I taught not only biology, but also other subjects outside my field such as English, Music, and Physical .Education. The materials, equipment, and facilities for the type of effective teaching I had in mind were absent. These challenges however did not dampen my enthusiasm for the job. In fact, I became more creative and innovative. I believe that teaching and learning should not be confined within the classroom.

Even during those first few years of teaching, I see to it that the science concepts I discuss inside the class would have social dimensions. Thus, I took an active role in school as moderator of the Rural Health and Science Education Committee. I designed outreach programs for students and teachers. Through these programs, students we're trained to teach primary health care to the people in the baran gays. They also taught barrio folks how to make cough syrup from plant extracts and soap from coconut oil. Students also gave lectures on environmental protection and conservation.

Those eight years of teaching in a rural school has prepared me for greater challenges ahead. Working with the children of the poor has instilled in me the importance of service, compassion, and respect for human dignity. I have learned to love teaching, and I see it as an instrument for transforming the person and the community.

After eight years of teaching however, I felt I had nothing more to give to my students. I resigned from my teaching job and enrolled as a full time M.S. in Biology student at De La Salle University in Manila. I was lucky to get a scholarship which included free tuition and a monthly stipend. To augment my stipend, I taught as part-time lecturer in the Biology department and worked as research assistant by one of the senior researchers in the university. This I did on top of my full-time MS load. I was so engrossed with my studies however, that I finished my M.S. degree in one year and five months only, after which, DLSU took me in as a full time assistant professor.

Teaching college students at De La Salle University was an entirely new experience. With modern and sophisticated equipment at my disposal, my world opened to the wonders of scientific research. However, I still value the importance of nature as a big laboratory such that in my ecology classes, I would bring my students to the seas of Batangas, the rivers of Rizal, and the lahar-affected areas of Pampanga to conduct field studies. Pursuing my Ph.D. while teaching also enabled me to conduct researches which were presented in the country and abroad.

Research is very exciting. It means sleepless nights, disappointments, physical and mental exhaustion. But the joy of discovering something new in nature makes it all worthwhile. While Manila has provided me with opportunities for professional growth, I still feel that my heart is in Iloilo. Thus, with an additional degree and one additional son, I brought back my family to Iloilo in summer of 1995.

In June 1995, Philippine Science High School Western Visayas hired me as a Special Science Teacher. Only on its third year of existence, the school welcomed my suggestions and expertise. I helped develop its Science Research curriculum and introduced some innovations for teaching the course. Barely a year of teaching at Pisay, I realized that my role was not only to teach students but to train teachers as well. This I do by organizing workshops for teachers in the region.

One day, I received a letter from the students. The letter said, "Dear Ma'am Josette, we know you are being groomed for directorship of the school, and you would want to be the director someday, given the chance. The thing is, we don't want you to be the director. We just want you to be a teacher. Pisay needs teachers like you. The Philippines needs teachers like you." Their letter touched me deeply.

When I won the Metrobank Foundation Award in 1997 as one of the outstanding teachers in the country, the Pisay community gave me a poster. The poster was a white cartolina filled with signatures of students, teachers, and the non-teaching staff. In the center was a painting of a rose, and the message which says, "You are the song that plays so softly in our hearts; that gives us inspiration to aim for greater heights and bigger dreams. Congratulations. We are so proud of you."

In 1998, I won another national award as one of "The Outstanding Young Filipino" formerly known as the TOYM in the field of Secondary Education. Last year, I won the "2002 Intel Excellence in Teaching Award" in an international competition held at Louisville, Kentucky from May 10-17.

In Kentucky, I presented to the panel of judges and to about 150 teachers from all over the world my method of teaching Science Research to my students in Iloilo. I told them that the Philippines is a third world country blessed with abundant natural resources.

However, we face problems such as the rapidly declining environment and the lack of equipment and facilities for scientific endeavors. Faced with this situation, I introduced innovations and strategies for teaching the course. These innovations included: a) building a scientific library, b) conducting field studies, c) establishing linkages with research institutions in the country, d) holding science forums in school, and e) teaching students laboratory and field techniques which would help them in the conduct of their research work.

The judges and teachers from different parts of the world were amazed that even in the absence of sophisticated equipment, my students were able to produce quality research outputs beyond their expectations.

At this point in time, let me show to you what we do in our Science Research class (a five minute power point presentation of my class activities).

I went to Kentucky with three high school students from the Manila Science High School, and one student from the Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology. These students competed in the International Science and Engineering Fair which was held back to back with the teaching competition.

The students from Manila Science competed for a Team project in Physics, while the student from Iligan competed for the individual category in the field of Microbiology. These students were competing with 1,200 other students from around the world.

May 17, 2002 was a glorious moment for the Philippine delegation in the U.S. When it was announced that the student from Iligan won second place grand award for Microbiology, our delegation was ecstatic. When it was announced that the students from Manila Science won first place grand award for Physics, our group was delirious. When the grand award for "Excellence Teaching" was announced, and for the first time in the history of the event an Asian teacher won, and Filipino, there was a standing ovation from the crowd as the Philippine flag was waved in the air.

The Philippine delegation's road to success in Kentucky was far from smooth. We almost never made it to the U.S. Our visa interview was scheduled on May 29 when we were supposed to be competing in the U.S. by May 10. Almost desperate, we went to the Department of Foreign Affairs for help, only to be told that the Office cannot give us an endorsement letter to the U.S. Embassy because they cannot guarantee that we are coming back.

It was a painful experience for me and the students. Anyway, we were able to get our visa on the last minute the most unconventional way, and brought glory to this country.

Let me show to you the scenario during the first day of the teaching competition. When I entered the judging area, one table in front was occupied by the board of judges. At the right side of the room, the table was occupied by the finalist from China and her supporters. The table at the left side was occupied by the finalists from U.S.. and their supporters. The center table for the Filipino finalist was empty. I sat there alone.

I went to the U.S. bringing a CD for my presentation. I also brought some transparencies and a white board pen in case my CD won't work. Coming from a third world country, I was prepared for the worst. It turned out, I was the only finalist without a notebook computer. Luckily, one American finalist lend me his computer; but before doing so, he gave me a brief lecture on the parts of the computer and its use.

I was the fourth presenter. When it was my turn to present, a panel member asked if I needed an interpreter. I said, "No thanks."

A personnel from Intel volunteered to run my presentation. I said, "I can do it." After my presentation, they said, "Wow, you're so cool. You know more than us!" What am I telling you?

That despite our country's limited resources, Filipinos can compete globally given the proper training, support and exposure. Our winning at the international scene may not reflect the general condition of science education in the country. But with our concerted efforts, my dear fellowmen, we can move this country forward and show the world that we are a globally competitive race.

Last May, I was in Cleveland, Ohio to present my methods of teaching to 150 teachers from 17 countries. I also served as the team facilitator for the Spanish-speaking teachers from Brazil, Costa Rica and Argentina.

Last August, I gave a demonstration lesson to educators from the third world countries of Laos and Cambodia. Filipinos are indeed talented and will excel at the international level in their individual capacity. But as a country, we lag behind. This is because we lack the spirit of community which is very strong among progressive nations. When I went home to Iloilo after the competition in the U.S., my school gave me a very warm welcome. During the convocation, students and teachers expressed how proud they are of me. I told them, "I am very proud of you too. It is you who has brought me to where I am now. Our experiences together has brought world attention to the fact that hey, there's a world-class school out there in Iloilo; a school with world-class teachers and students.

I told the teachers and I quote Mr. De Quires that "being world-class doesn't mean going internationally and showing our best out there. Being world-class is passion and commitment to our profession. Being world-class is giving our best to teaching. Being world-class starts right inside the classroom."

In winning this international award, I do not claim to be the best teacher of the land. There are thousands of best teachers out there, working silently, giving their hearts to teaching, without thinking of benefits or rewards. I salute these teachers. In winning this award, I believe I was just commissioned by somebody up there to deliver the message that indeed, Filipino teachers can be world-class teachers. In winning this award, I have shown to the world that Filipinos can be world-class if they choose to be. And more importantly, I have shown to my fellow Filipinos that they can be world-class if they choose to be. That if we do our best, we can conquer the world.

During the panel interview in the U.S., one judge asked me, "You have a Ph.D. in Biology, why do you teach in high school?" I answered, "And who will teach these kids?" Another judge asked if how much am I paid for all my pains. They were shocked when I told them that I am getting a net pay of not more than $300. a month. When your job becomes your mission, your primary concern is giving your bestin everything you do. Knowing that you have contributed significantly towards the creation of a product which can make a difference in your company and the larger community is reward in itself. Believe in what you are doing. Believe that you can make a difference. Believing however doesn't mean you have to stop from where you are now. Believing is improving your skills and maximizing your potential.

With determination and the will to win, your company can conquer the world. As members of the San Miguel Family, you are lucky to take part in the production of high quality and accessible consumer products that can be found in every Filipino home. Your skills do not only contribute to the development of the country's economy, but you also bring out the spirit of fun, joy, and laughter into the lives of the people; thus helping make everyday life a celebration. Your capable hands can paint a true image of the Filipino as a people- intelligent, hard-working, passionate, fun-loving, creative, innovative, "magaling!." Another judge asked how much she was paid for all her pains.

During the panel interview in the U.S., one judge asked me, "You have a Ph.D. in Biology, why do you teach in high school?" When your job becomes your mission, your primary concern is giving your bestin everything you do.

Your capable hands can paint a true image of the Filipino as a people- intelligent, hard-working, passionate, fun-loving, creative, innovative, "magaling!." You could paint one bright picture of this country and its people - by your achievements in the workplace, your teamwork, integrity, passion for success, and your discharge of civic responsibilities. You can show the world that you are the new technocrats, capable and willing to meet the challenges of the new order of market globalization. You can show the world that you are the new citizenry, capable of making this country a worthy member of the league of peace-loving nations.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://kennethrussel.blogspot.com/2009/03/amazing-pinoynspirational-story-of-dr.html' title='tHe AmaZinG piNoy....(NSPIRATIONAL STORY OF DR. Here's the three harmful skin whitening ingredients - hydroquinone, mercury and steroids. Something that you should always be aware about safe skin whitening. Did you know hydroquinone is presently found in over 200 skin lightening products sold in the US alone? It has been banned by the Food and Drug Administration since January 2001 for sale mainly in Europe, Japan, Australia and Asia because of its carcinogenic (cancer-causing) properties causing more damaging hydroquinone hyperpigmentation. In the US, it is still allowed to sell a concentration of 2% in products, and 4% when prescribed by dermatologists. But would you rather stay away, go hydroquinone free, and play cautious than take even the slightest risk?By all means, I don’t suggest you even try.Hydroquinone has been linked to ochronosis (thickening and darkening of skin especially for people of color), abnormal function of the adrenal glands, and blood diseases.Mercury, also known as mercurous chloride, poisons the bloodstream, and toxic when used in cosmetics because it is readily absorbed. You know the end results? Kidney, brain, nervous and gastrointestinal disorders; skin rashes, mood swings, memory loss, and muscle weakness. In other words, mercury is sucked up in the skin easily,Eww! Here’s more. Prolonged contact with mercury also leads to skin rashes, mood swings, memory loss, and muscle weakness. The last harmful ingredient, but certainly NOT the least harmful, steroids, cause thinning of the skin, or stretchmarks, associated with skin problems such as cellulites, contact eczema, bacterial and fungal infections, Cushing's syndrome, acne, skin atrophy and pigmentation disorders. Other less commonly reported problems include delaying the diagnosis of leprosy, and erythrodermic psoriasis. Scared? You should be. If you are or have been using products based on these ingredients, now is the time to stop it. There are safe and effective non hydroquinone, non-mercury and non-steroid solutions to freckles, melasma, age spots, uneven skin tone, dark underarms, acne scars, inner thighs, knees, elbows, etc. True, there are still credible sources for skin lighteners out there. And sometimes it’s hard to judge the value without a direct comparison. That’s why I urge you to give their product a trial run... at the same time you give one to ours. After all, you’re the best judge

choose the right! pls do read the labels before you select ur product!

things Unsaid.......

The lights are dimmed and I’m having a grin on my face. She was singing a song to calm her soul or better yet tell the world about everything she has inside. I was looking at her in the corner of my eye and cautiously tipped my cap down so she won’t see me staring at her. I said to myself, “Its nice to see her after all this time…It’s good to see her just plain happy.”

Then, she suddenly struck me with a question. “Are you happy?”

Of course I was, if she only knew how much I wanted to give her a tight hug…very tight hug. But I wouldn’t dare ruin this moment when its my joy to see her smile a lot. There she was infront of me, singing the song reflections…i ducked my head and keep everything to myself….that song was meant for her…as also I would like to admit –to myself.

I just caught myself staring at her again. Damn! What if she notices, i told myself. Why can’t I be honest to myself and tell her things I wanna tell her. I wanna tell her how beautiful she is and how I wanted to uplift her spirit. I can’t…its better yet to just see her like this, and create a memory of how gay, happy and comforting she is.

Light feeling. Why do I feel in such way for so long now? Whatever she does, I can’t hate her even a small bit? Maybe we started as fully accepting each other…past, present and future. It might be…but I got a good guess why…she was never judgmental about people and I returned back the favor. She accepted everything about people and I returned back the favor. She is true to herself and demanded that people be true to her also no matter how hard it is to be true.

I can’t really explain the details of it all. Try as I might. It’s complicated, very complicated even from the start. One thing for sure, I loved her like a sister, like a dear friend, like a lover…and like my partner…like i’ve never loved before. The feeling never changes even with time.

in reality, I will not try not to tell her about these things, it would ruin everything.

Why? Because these things create expectations and I don’t wanna fail her again. Its better not to tell right? Keep everything to yourself and also I know she does this one. Keeping everything to herself…she’s good at it.

This is what I think, If you ever meet her, never leave her. No matter what happens, never leaver her. Always keep in touch with her. Don’t give her promises you can’t keep it just adds to her despair. Make her happy…she is a rare person to find.

I could go on for a day with this one but I’d rather keep it short. She’s tired of everything and I’d rather leave things unexplored and for her to find out. Nobody knows about the future right? Why bother think about it.

But one thing for sure, I’ll always be there. That’s a promise I can keep

Rationalization of Goodbye!

When people say goodbye…they try to rationalize what happens.they find comfort by explaining the things that didn’t work…they find comfort in telling people that its how life is, accept it…they find comfort in telling others that God has a reason why he/she left…they find comfort in telling themselves that Love is about letting go.

Damn rationalization and justification of such events. Saying goodbye is painful…needless to say, we try to create meanings to ease our pain and bring comfort to our troubled self. Whether you create meanings of it or alter the meaning of love…or just be passive and accept it. I am right when I say that people do that most of the times…all the justifications and rationalizations. I have been advised by a friend lately…about being sincere (thanks Teepee) sincere to how you feel…sincere to your words…sincere to your self. Being sincere is to not let go of the moment of pain…being sincere is to feel the feeling of pain rather than escape from it…being sincere is to tell yourself that you are hurt and I will feel this hurt because it reminds me of loving sincerely…being sincere is not to feel hurt just becuase of not being loved back…being sincere is just to love and nothing else matters not even expecting to be loved in return…love unselfishly…just love with sincerest and to the fullest.

Hurt me, break me, reject me, do wrong deeds to me…it don’t matter…it wont change how a person feels…if he/she loves you fully. Try not to attach meaning to the word love…or better not to create or label love to what you feel…attaching meanings create expectations to another and expectations to yourself….attaching meanings create limitations and boundaries to love…is someone don’t fit to your meaning of love then you conclude that he/she don’t love you…this is a misleading concept. When it happens that it will come to a point in your life that “love” doesn’t have any real meaning at all because everybody has different interpretation of it…love is just a word, a concept having constructed meanings….you must return to the most basic of all emotions to understand fully such beautiful experience of loving someone…it is the joy of feeling…no words no concepts…just a deep feeling…to feel that wonderful experience and to be able to let others feel such wonderful undescrible emotions…it is most real…then you have, let say “loved fully”, or experienceing the most sincerest part of loving.

Don’t rationalize goodbye…don’t rationalize love…the more you do the more it becomes an illusion of created meanings….just feel and don’t think.

Because feeling is a great gift to cherish too.

call centers (outbound) new updates!

I read some an article last week and i was shock what I read. We all know that our economic nowadays is down. All country in the world is affected specially the United States of America. I'm so worried because my job is connected in USA because I'm a call center agent or a Telemarketer in states. According to an article I read that Barack Obama declared that if he wins the election this coming November he will ban the telemarketers in states. But I'm confident he can't make it, why? because a lot of big companies in states do outbound calls to have a good marketing revenue for their company. Obama don't know what he doing but I'm still hoping that wont happened in the future because a lot of companies will close and a lot of people around the world will get affected. we all know that Philippines is one of the country around the world had a big numbers of unemployed and when the call centers come in the Philippines a lot of people got a job. They say that the call centers is the most easiest job to get and have a better compensation and has a low qualifications. What I mean ask long ask you can speak in English or the first language in the world and you know how to speak in American accent thats it. I'm looking forward that it wont happened and call centers industries will stay longer.

Call Center Outsourcing

BPO business is the most popular business now in the business world... Companies that value customer relationship management—such as those in the financial services and insurance, transportation and freight handling, banking, and IT industries—usually have a need for call centers.

The size of a call center is referred to in terms of “seats” instead of “agents” as phone operators work in three shifts to adjust to the different time zones of the countries where the calls originate.

Cheaper by the Dozen
Asia is still the cheapest place to acquire skilled, knowledgeable, and English-proficient call center agents, where the wages of customer service representatives (CSRs) can be as much as 80 percent lower than those of their American counterparts.

In the Philippines, where the rates range from $6 to $10 per hour per seat, the customer service industry is flourishing. The world’s second-largest English-speaking country has become the ideal destination for outsourced call center operations of multinational companies. In 2002, the Philippine call center industry reached a whopping $10.5 million and is fast catching up with dominant player India, which raked in $12 million.

There are about 30 to 40 call centers in the Philippines, although most major call center outsourcers would rather not publicize that they are outsourcing their requirements to the Philippines. America OnLine in Clark, Pampanga, maintains an offshore facility of 600 “cybergeeks” who answer e-mail inquiries. Citibank call center agents holding office in Eastwood City Cyberpark in Quezon City handle the credit card operations for the bank.

Filipinos Better Call Center Agents
Culture compatibility. English proficiency. Neutral accents. More foreign investors are choosing the Philippines as a base for their offshore customer service facilities because culturally, Filipinos are more Westernized than their Asian neighbors.

The Philippines was an American colony for almost 50 years and Western business practices have rubbed off on Filipinos. The commercial code of the U.S. is no different from Philippine mercantile laws, such as the bill of lading and negotiable instruments. The Philippines and America have similar requirements for certified public accountants as well.

Filipinos watch American TV and are thus more familiar with the nuances of American English. They also have neutral accents, compared with Indians. When clients dial a 1-800 number, they think they are still talking to an American, when in fact it is a Filipino on the other end.

In addition, Filipinos are more customer oriented and more patient in handling calls, aside from being helpful and friendly.

A 1999 regional study conducted by the Australia-based Call Center Research shows that the Philippines invests heavily in keeping the quality of customer service. CRC ranked the Philippines second to Australia.

Rising Competition
But while Filipinos are better American English speakers than Indians, this should not make them complacent. In the coming years, the Philippines faces greater competition from Singapore, Hong Kong, and even China. Outsourcers prefer call center facilities that could handle calls from all over the world, not just from English-speaking nations.

Europe, for one, is a big and lucrative market, but Filipinos are not really educated in European languages. If the Philippines intends to keep ahead of the call center outsourcing race, it should place emphasis on language training not only in English, but also Spanish, and even Chinese and Japanese. Proficiency in Chinese and Japanese would ensure that the Philippines retains its connectivity to the Asian market and assure more business from non-English-speaking clients.

Call Center Hub
India markets itself as “cheap but good.” To make business, the Philippines need not sell itself cheap but capitalize on its inherent advantages in the international market. Quality more than quantity should be the cutting edge.

Intent on seeing the Philippines become the call center hub of Asia, the Philippine Board of Investments (BOI) has been giving out perks to the IT sector. An IT firm could get pioneer incentives as long as it would provide new and untried technology, has substantial venture capital, introduces major innovation in software development, locates its office in specified IT zones, and costs at least 100 million pesos.
Outsourcing has become an attractive investment in recent years. Among the services offered in Philippine-based outsourcing companies are copyediting and indexing; web design and maintenance; data conversion, data warehousing, data capture and data entry; OCR and scanning services; proofreading; encoding and keyboarding; imaging services and graphics design; call center and customer service; abstracting and document conversion; typesetting; and tagging, among others.

pest Offday!

I dont know why I should fell this way, Why I cant concentrate to my calls. Why I cant penetrate to the customers. Is this something happen of my emotion or Im just mess up because of my frustration. According to the one of the qoute I read in the book " You can close your eyes to the things you don't want to see, But you can't close your eyes to things thats deal with your emotions". Yah its true because emotions have no eyes thats why love is blind. I don't know why some people in this world needs to fall inlove, the word love can distroy friendship, integrity, and you can't swallow your ego.
This day im so much frustrated beacuse of lot of things finacial, family, friends. I hope I will find the men to love and not hurt my fillings. so I have the person that I can lean on if im filling down but now its impossible because it will not happend in the reason that im gay and no people will love me as I am. Its hurt because I did not expect it that this things wwill happen in my life and I don't like this because my heart always cry. Thy say love takes time but its so hard to wait for nothing and I decide from now on I will close my heart to love people because thy not worth it for my love.
ciao! :'(
kenneth!(//_-)

faReWeLL To YoU My TrUsTeD fRiEnDs!

Its a loneyday today because my two friends will out in the company. Because i
made a sale for this day and
the good thing is my friend
is signing a contract
nextweek. Friday the 13th is
a very special day for me
because God made it special
for me. I'm hoping that i
will find the right guy every
friday the 13th. The good
thing this day we will have a
a bonding with our group (
the bangagan groups) with our
T.L Chariss An Bañanola but
the bad thig is thre's always
person that do'nt belong in
the group thats make our day
BAD ( I don't want to mention
a name). But its okay because
we ignore his presence. But
sadiest part of our group
binding is our OM (john llyod
gallo) cant join us. I hope
it was the bad omen who could
not join us instead of llyod.
But its okay because one of
our friend will join and she
will "kill" the bad omen we
call her etitz thw omen
slayer. I hope she will do
her job so we enjoy our
bonding.That's all for the
day I have to go muah.
ciao!

WhY i LoVe CoFfee?

why I loVe CofFee ?

You see that picture? thats the reason why i love coffee than alcohol hehehe.
